Extermination When did the killing begin? When did it end? How many were murdered?
The Bosnian Genocide began in April 6th,1992 after the Bosnian referendum vote for independence. The Serbians attacked Sarajevo in efforts to "ethnically cleanse" the area. The Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic also shut down the airport and all of the surrounding roads to keep people from coming or going. Without any where to go, or any others in the area to help, they were very limited on resources. Shortly, they were deprived of even the most basic needs. A food shortage took place that wiped out most of those who were not previously killed from the shooting. The Serbs continued to attack all over Europe killing over 200,000 Bosnian Muslims and raping of over 50,000 Bosnian women and children. The genocide did not end until peace negotiations were established in November of 1995.
