In 1991, the country of Yugoslavia broke apart. Three countries, Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia declared their independence, which lead to conflict between the ethnic groups. The conflict leads to an "ethnic cleansing" campaign put together by Serbian forces in 1992. The Serbs wanted to rid the area of Bosnian Muslims. The Serbs were against any person who was not affiliated with their ethnic group.
